History of the Maratha Museum :
- Commemoration Hall : In 1965, the vision to establish a Commemoration Hall to celebrate the Regiment's history took shape. By 1966, this vision became a reality with the creation of the Museum, initially housed in a meticulously renovated barrack. Each unit of the Regiment contributed its unique historical narratives, showcasing their raisings, Battle Honours, Decorations, Trophies, and Artifacts.
- Over time, the growing contributions from the Battalions necessitated the Museum's expansion. In 1972, a new central location at the Regimental Centre was designated, leading to the reorganization of the Commemoration Hall into the Museum and Motivation Hall, embodying the spirit and valour of the Regiment.
- Regimental Archives and Historical Section : In the 1990s, a new Administrative Block, named in honor of Col NJ Nair, AC, KC, was constructed, serving as the Centre Headquarters Office Block. With the relocation of offices, the old building was repurposed into the Regimental Archives and Historical Section (RAHS), becoming an integral part of the Museum. Due to space constraints, the Museum was divided into two buildings, both standing proudly beside the Main Office Complex, preserving and showcasing the Regiment's storied legacy.
- Hall of Valour : In 2005, a visionary project culminated in the construction of a new complex designed to consolidate and elevate the Museum’s offerings. This magnificent structure, known as the Hall of Valour, stands as the heart of the Museum, epitomizing the bravery and legacy of the Regiment. Within its walls, visitors are immersed in the Regiment's storied past, with displays that honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifices of its members.
- Maratha Museum : The idea of housing the Museum under one roof remained elusive until 2017. It was decided to bring all entities of the Museum into a single complex by constructing two additional sections in the Hall of Valour. In 2017, during the 250th-anniversary celebrations of the raising of the first Battalion of the Regiment, the MARATHA MUSEUM as a single entity came into existence, an architectural marvel. The complex features four distinct sections. The Front Section comprises two dome-shaped structures connected to the Rear Section through a Central Corridor. The hexagonal shape of these Front and Rear sections houses various Artifacts in concentric circles, ensuring optimum utilization of space. Since then, the MARATHA Museum has regularly received updates through the reorganization of various display sections and the addition of new Artifacts. A notable addition was the unveiling of an Audio Guide on October 15, 2022, in the presence of former Colonels of the Regiments, senior veteran officers, and former Centre Commandants during the XVII Post-War Reunion Celebrations. The Audio Guide offers an exhilarating tour of the Museum, a first of its kind among all museums. It is available in English and Hindi and can be connected through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
